The military wives choir on board Prunella at the "ostend  at anchor" festival

The Military Wives Choir is a community of nearly 2,000 women in 72 choirs across the
UK and overseas. Its over-arching aim is to support women, whose lives are impacted
by the armed forces, through a shared love of singing. The ethos of the MWC is ‘Sing,
share, support’.
In 2010, a choir for military wives and girlfriends was set up at Catterick Garrison to help
the women support each other while their partners were on deployment in Afghanistan.
Inspired by this story, Gareth Malone worked with women from Chivenor and Plymouth
military bases to get them ready to sing at the Festival of Remembrance at the Royal
Albert Hall - as featured in the popular BBC programme ‘The Choir’. On the back of this,
the MWC foundation was created in 2012 and it has gone from strength to strength.
The Military Wives Choir of Belgium was formed in 2014 and is now, with close to 40
members, one of the largest in the MWC network. Our members come mainly from the
Brussels area and from SHAPE (Supreme Headquarters of Allied Powers in Europe)
