Filme Dunkirk 2017

Three days even before the sale had been agreed we had been invited with Prunella to take part in the new filming of Dunkirk.

With the sale then agreed, we would get the keys on Tuesday the 7th June. On Sat. the 11th we would have to be in Dunkirk.

We, Stefaan, Mark and Volker, flew to England and took a hire car to Prunella, took the keys and stayed in a hotel.

The second team Lizzy Leo and Shirley arrived the next morning with a van full of everything we would need for the trip to Dunkirk.

Lizzy was the organizer.

Stefaan was sent out to hunt for all the spare parts we needed like diesel fitters etc.

Volker was electrics and electronic.

Skipper was Mark and sorted out the engines, pumps, and general running + navigation to Dunkirk.

Leo put the Prunella back together again and assisted with everything.

Shirley kept us all supplied with hot tea and food.

Two days, Wednesday and Thursday to get Prunella sorted and sea worthy, Friday we would head down river to Lowestoft, stay the night there and Saturday morning cross the channel on a direct course for Dunkirk.

Crew for the trip would be Mark, Stefaan, Volker and Leo.

Lizzy had to stay and sort Vanessa out.

Everyone worked like mad to get Prunella ready. Friday morning as soon as Stefaan got back with the last of the parts we needed, we cast off.

We headed down river to Brooms to fill up with diesel.

Test….Sea trials…Well that would have to done on the way.

We filled up all four tanks at Brooms. No problems, surprisingly the tanks didn’t leak.

Early evening we were in Lowestoft moored up by the lock, Lizzy had organized that.

Cleaned her down and went out for a meal.

Next morning Saturday, we put the mast up and headed out to sea.

Later that evening we were in Dunkirk, a few small problems but nothing serious.

Sunday the film crew inspected Prunella, regarding film appearance, but she was just as they wanted, in desperate need of some TLC

4:oo Monday morning we all had to be at Wardrobe then Haircut and then Makeup, back to the boat all dressed and ready, then at 9:00 we had the order to leave our mooring and go to the filming area.

We spent most of the day waiting, then charging about from one position to another.

Carrying a boat load of Tommy’s from the beach out to sea…..actually they were all French lads.

Three days of filming and Friday we could all go home.
